COSTA MESA — November 3, 2026. Costa Mesa’s impounded-animals webpage says the city has a temporary shelter contract with WAGS Pet Adoption at 6621 Westminster Boulevard, Westminster.
A shelter outside city limits
The city’s current contracted location is in Westminster, not at Costa Mesa City Hall. For animals taken in by Costa Mesa Animal Control, residents should contact WAGS before traveling to ask about a specific pet.
Appointments and reclaiming
The city lists 714-887-6156 for calls or text to arrange an in-person visit. The shelter lists service hours daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and accepts cash or money orders for its fees.
Dog licenses still apply
Costa Mesa says a dog must have a valid city license to be reclaimed. Licensing costs are separate from impound fees; check the current rules and bring reliable ownership documentation.
