COSTA MESA — November 3, 2026. Costa Mesa’s Fairview Park covers 208 acres, including 195 acres of open-space habitat and 13 acres of landscaped areas, according to the municipal park directory.
An unusually large protected park
The city documents five habitat ecosystems, rare species and a National Register cultural resource site. Fairview Park connects to the Santa Ana River Trail and neighboring Talbert Regional Park.
Why visitors should stay on designated paths
Wildlife viewing, environmental education, cycling and walking can occur on a seven-mile trail network, but sensitive areas need protection from off-trail damage, unauthorized vehicles and collection of plants.
Check activity-specific restrictions
The municipal page links maps, e-bike policies and model aircraft permitting. Having a recreational open space does not mean powered vehicles or drone flights are automatically allowed everywhere.
